The Hunger
In the century of the great progress of science is forcible to verify that the man obtains the achievement to go to the Moon but is incapable to feed the population of the planet, about one third suffers from malnutrition and bad nutrition. This remembers the words of Chrysale in Les Femmes savantes:
<< do not go seek what is made in the Moon
and think a little about what is going on in your house.
Where we see that everything is upside down. >>
The Occident, with a suicidal and irrational egoism, reduces its agricultural production, because its larger than its necessities, at the same time that the hunger reaches numerous countries, as the Somalia, the Ethiopia, etc. The next square describes well this hunger that started and that threat to enlarged itself:

The great famine which I sense approaching
will often turn (in various areas) then become world wide.
It will be so vast and long lasting that (they) will grab
roots from the trees and children from the breast.
The great hunger that I feel to come close will come back with frequency, later will become universal.
Here is an impressive picture of the hunger that is going on currently on the Earth. <<Remove the child from the breast>>, says Nostradamus. Who did not see in the television those Somali's mothers with the breast emptied, incapable to feed the children? This square indicates that the hunger will advance slowly until arriving at the entire Earth.

Sky fire from the Occident side,
And from South, run till the East,
For half death without findng root,
Thirt age of Mars the warlike,
Of Carbuncles sparking fire will be seen,
Age Carbuncle, & in the end hunger.
Nostradamus describes here the Communism and the warlike devastation that it produced for all the planet. The two World Wars had as epicentre on North Africa, the South of the Europe and the Middle East, that today continues to be one of the hot spots of the world. It makes mention of one third period of war during the age of the Communism, or either, in century XX; communism that the occidental powers had perhaps buried a little quickly. They seem to have forgotten that China, the biggest nation of world in population, still is communist. Carbuncle is a garnet (rock) red of blood that will come of a dragon, says us the dictionary of Furetière; beautiful picture to assign the Chinese Communism. It will be seen, therefore, to shine the fire of the war during the period of the Communism, and, when this last one will be almost to disappear, will have hunger, that is, in the end of century XX.

After great trouble for humanity, a greater one is prepared
The Great Mover renews the ages:
Rain, blood, milk, famine, steel and plague,
Is the heavens fire seen, a long spark running.
After the revolution (rain, Biblical symbol of the deluge) and of the blood that it will spill, ending the sweet of living (milk, symbol of sweet in appeared direction), it will be known hunger, the iron of the war and the epidemic (AIDS); later, a great comet will cross the sky.
The end of the soviet revolution is equally a precursory sign of the conflict that if it initiated in the Yugoslavia.
II, 96
Burning torch will be seen in the sky at night
Near the end and beginning of the Rhone:
Famine, steel: the relief provided late,
Persia turns to invade Macedonia.
A comet will appear in the night in the sky and will be visible from Switzerland to the Mediterranean, at the moment where the hunger and the war will reign; the aid will arrive very late and Iran will invade the Macedonia. When seeing itself currently the Macedonian implied in the conflict of the former ones, is not irrational to imagine that the Balkan question reopen the tensions between Greece and Turkey and that, after that, Iran, that has regional interests, interferes in the subject. Let us remember that the European Community recognised the former-Yugoslavia Macedonian as independent country, with the name of Republic of Skopje, to the pacing that Greece considers that the Macedonian name (reference the Fillip and his son Alexander) is and must be remained Hellenic and that the capital of the region is Tessalonic.

A scythe joined with a pond in Sagittarius
at its highest ascendant.
Plague, famine, death from military hands;
the century approaches its renewal.
This square gives interesting astronomical accuracy to point out the time of the described events. But it demands some explanations on the words codified for Nostradamus. The scythe, together with the hourglass, is one of the Saturn attributes. The hieroglyph of the planet Saturn are ballot box scythe with an overlapping cross. The word scythe assigns here the constellation of the Scorpion. With effect, this water sign and fixture represent the immovable water.
